I found a really nice tripod at a thrift shop and it did not have the quick release cap. You can print this easily and it works perfect. 

I printed with ASA at .12 layer height 20% infill

Make sure you pick up the nuts and bolt kit at harbor freight for this to work correctly, its only $5

You will need a ¼" hex nut and ¼"=20x3/4" Machine Screw to make this work.
