I wanted to install a Creality Sprite Pro extruder on my new Ender 5+.
Tutorials online have you cutting the mounting plate, moving the BL/CR Touch and end stops, and running wires in strange ways. I went a different route.
I printed an adapter plate and placed it between the extrusion/wheels and the actual mounting plate. It's 3mm thick and the stock mounting bolts are just long enough to fit. I guess technically you sacrifice 3mm in Y but should ultimately be okay since the bed is large enough to accommodate the shift. Alternately you could reposition the end stop back 3mm to compensate.
In order for the BL Touch probe to clear a potential snag on the linear rod clamp I printed a new clamp with an offset. There is enough space to simply swap this part in and then slide the linear rod down a little.
Finally, I created an extension ribbon cable. The connectors are 2mm pitch 24 pin IDC and the ribbon cable is a matching 1mm spacing. You can get female connectors and ribbon cable easily on Amazon. An extension cable needs one male and one female end. Male connectors of this type are not easy to find but there are some parts from aliexpress that can help or maybe something is available from Digikey.
An extension ribbon cable also needs every pair swapped on one end. This is tedious and there's some potential to short the ribbon cable so this might not really be best for the inexperienced, impatient, or feint of heart. It is doable if you can source the parts and make sure to use a multi-meter to check continuity.
UPDATE 20250809: I now use a CZH-LABS Dual IDC-24 Pitch 2.0mm Male Header Terminal Block Breakout Board (picture uploaded) to connect the two ribbon cables. It does NOT require swapping the traces on the ribbon cable. It's a bit pricey but worth it.
Ribbon cables are pretty floppy so I reused the semi-rigid cable wrap that came with the Ender 5+ and sort of just stuffed a small support in the back end to keep it mostly upright and off the build plate. I put my spool holder on a shelf above the printer.
