Another project for my wifes crochet work. This is a base onto which she crochets a basket. It can be sized for various needle and yarn sizes as well as different basket sizes.

The OpenSCAD source files are included and can be edited directly or the OpenSCAD built-in customizer can be used (recommended).

rectangleBase.scad will produce square and rectangle shaped bases.
stadiumBase.scad will produce circle and stadium shaped bases.

Printing is simple and direct. Simply ensure that the hole size is adequate for the crochet needle to pass freely through. Not much wiggle room is needed to maneuver the hook.
According to my wife:
For larger yarns a 9 mm hole size works well for 6.5-8 mm needles.
For smaller yarns a 4.5 mm hole size works well with 3.5 mm needle.
