The Prometheus bridge is a 4-string electric violin bridge that I've been working on for a bit. It's inspired by the Barbera bridges and intended for solid-body instruments. Because the feet are flat, it will not work with traditional acoustic violins. I am using a Mina electric violin ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2122773 ) for testing. I'm still adding and refining features so check back in case I've changed something major. (The image shows a bridge which only has the "Prometheus" text, which I changed to "Pontifex" and "Prometheus". The more substantive design features are all the same, though.) I followed David Perry's article ( https://openfabpdx.com/2018/10/31/how-to-design-a-3d-printed-violin-bridge/ ) to design the basic profile of the bridge. The action is a little lower than typical to accommodate playing very high up on the strings. Print settings: PLA, 99.9% concentric infill, 3 shells. The density of the plastic and the infill pattern affect the acoustics of the bridge greatly, so you may need to tweak this as you see fit. Assembly: This bridge requires 10 mm piezo discs such as these https://www.amazon.com/uxcell-Acoustic-Transducer-Element-Trigger/dp/B07RK2V1P2 . The piezos are connected by pieces of wire which fit in channels on the bridge. The channels are sized for 24 gauge bare wire, assuming the wires will fold back on themselves for the two middle strings. Two wire leads are used to connect the bridge through an external jack. Make sure they will both fit through the hole in the middle of the bridge. If the piezo discs have wires pre-installed, remove them first, being careful not to obliterate too much of the contact material on the piezoelectric ceramic. Carefully insert a disc into each slot, making sure they are all facing the same way. Bend a piece of copper wire to fit into the channels on each side of the bridge. Solder the wires to the piezo discs. Pay attention that for each side of the bridge, the same side of the discs are soldered together. So on one side the four brass sides are soldered together, and on the other the four ceramic sides are soldered together. Fish two wires through the hole in the middle of the bridge and solder one to the wire on each side. Use some glue or epoxy to fix everything in place.
