Summary
I've designed this case put it outside with my Raspberry PI Zero 2 W running a Machine Learning model to discovery the cat that's making my garden its toilet.
It takes inspiration from the NatureBytes case - that I love - but it is not the same.
It has support for a tripod so it can stand. On the back there's space for a 10400 mAh battery. On the front, holes for a Adafruit 1000c power boost, and 2 types of Raspberry PI.
The cover has a hole for a camera and support to screw it in place. You can use a plastic dome to protect the camera from the elements. The diameter should be between 38/40mm
To assemble it:
- Print all the parts. I've printed them with ABS.
- The seal should be printed with flexible filament.
- Use 4x M5x35mm Allen screws to screw the cover and the bottom.
- Print 2x latch .
Use threaded inserts to secure the screws.
- 4x M2x3.6mm for the camera
- 4x M3x4.8mm to secure the screws for the RPi support
- 1x M6x12.7mm to secure the tripod.
Use nylon (or brass) M2.5 hex spacer standoffs for the Raspberry PI's and Adafruit's power boost 1000c.
In the spacer hole, you can fit a 14mm diameter round button.
On the back, there's a hole inside a square that you can glue a rubber square and have some wires passing there from/to outside protected.
I've printed it using ABS, but PET-G should also be enough to withstand the outdoors.
I've designed it using FreeCAD on Linux.
