European front doors do not have a turning handle on the outside. Even if it is unlocked, the only way back in is with a key. this was a quick little fix as an alternative to extending the deadbolt when I want to keep the door unlocked but not necessarily “open”. The cutout in the back is to fit a piece of double sided foam tape so it sits a bit more flush.
