I bought an old dresser to refinish, and half of the drawer guides were broken or missing, so, what's a guy to do? Searched printables and a few other sites but didn't find any of this style that were suitable. They're only a couple of dollars each from the hardware store, but hey, we've got threedeeprinters, right? Thought I'd share with you all; it's not a super complex model, but the five or six that I've printed seem to be holding up well.
Printing Notes
- I've printed mine in plain Creality PLA and it seems to be strong enough. (Material 220°/Bed 60°) Your mileage may vary with different materials.
- Print Orientation is flat side down
- No supports required
- 15-25% infill should be more than enough, but I think I used more like 60-80% for strength.
- No brim should be required unless you're using some other material that's causing issues.
Installation notes:
- These are a pretty standard size, but your dresser may have slightly smaller or larger rails.
- If these are difficult to slide on to your rails, you can do a couple of things;
- Print another guide slightly larger (you can try stretching the whole model on one axis or two..
- If it's just slightly tight, you can even sand the rails slightly just to perfect the fit. This is less preferable, but if you're not worried about permanently altering the dresser, you can give this a try.
- Typically these are stapled on to the back of the drawers (which is half the reason they go missing in the first place), but I used small pan head screws to attach, because, who has a furniture stapler handy? (Can't remember the size, but I'll try and post this when I'm home next; if you really need to know, send me a pm!)
Hole details:
- Hole size: 4mm
- Lower holes are spaced at 29 mm (center to center)
- Upper hole is centered on the part and 13.2mm (center to center) above the lower holes.
- If these don't work for you, you can always remove the holes in your CAD program and add whatever does work. Or drill them out, or drill new ones for that matter! :)
