Summary
This might do in a pinch, but it's not good enough for much. Don't print this if you need to pelletize a lot of material.
This was actually designed from scratch in Fusion 360, but the Pelletizer by BusterBeagle3D is what inspired it. It's a great design, but there were some elements I wanted that his didn't have, so I designed it very much like his with the addition of threads on one side for a PCM10 pass through PTFE couple for 1.75mm filament and threads for a typical soda pop bottle on the end for all the pellets to be collected into. All clamped in a vice with something to hold up the drill driver, and it's an easy operation to feed in the filament to pelletize. Sometimes the drill kicks back, though, so I need to see if there's a way to mitigate that. I had a really hard time figuring out the threads for the pop bottle, so I ended up mixing in the threads from the Filastruder hopper that I also linked.
I've included f3d and stp files for easy modification. This prints without support when flat on any of the sides with no holes in them.
You will need:
- Filament and a 3D printer. ;-) I printed this in PLA. Time will tell if that's a bad idea, but so far so good.
- Two 608 bearings, aka skateboard bearings, easy to find almost anywhere
- One PC M10 pass through PTFE coupler with 1mm thread pitch. Here's the kind I used: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IB81IHG/
- some 4mm OD PTFE. In the video, I'm shown using PTFE with 3mm ID.
Update: I removed the 3mm hole on the other side because pellets were coming out there half the time, rather than going into the bottle. I'll make a separate version for 3mm filament.
