I use slic3r with a prusa mendel, sli3r crashed my computer very badly when trying to generate support for this complex model. So I split it down the middle in Blender and added a couple polygons for minor support.

Print without support.
I used blue glow-in-the-dark PLA plastic.
I glued the 2 half's together with a hot glue gun.
