After a friend saw my Iowa Hawkeyes Decoration, he suggested making a Dota 2-themed remix of the idea. I didn't have an existing model to remix, so I tried my hand at creating objects out of an SVG logo. This was the result.

The pieces are all press-fit and work well printed at default sizes and tolerances. If your pieces don't fit well, consider scaling the prints to 99% or 101% if the fit is too tight or too loose, respectively.

The included 3mf files have the print settings, text-cleanup, and color-change steps built-in.

Important Notes:

The thin logo text sometimes leaves tiny, unconnected “pillars” of text. In the included 3mf files, I've used some negative volume cubes to cut away these leftover bits of text. If you're using the model alone and not the 3mf, look over your slicer preview carefully to ensure you don't have any of these tiny text remnants.

Experiments

Decoration - Inverse

This experiment uses a non-outlined logo and relies on the sunken river and ancient shapes to provide depth.

Half-Size

This is just like the default model, but at 50% scale. The text looks a little worse when printed this small, but its fine.

Inlay - Island

This experiment provides a larger raised text island for the logo text to sit on. In practice, I thought it was too much of a distraction from the logo itself, so I replaced it with the thin variant.

Inlay - Thin

A response to the original “Island” design. There are two forms, a raised-text variant (which became the new default) and an inset text variety. While the effect is neat, it makes angled viewing a bit difficult.

Outline

I experimented with adding an outline to the text island itself. Never printed any examples, went in a different direction. This is provided just in case anyone wants to make use of it.

Please Note: Due to the slight shape changes by the text-island outline, a new stand is required. THIS SHAPE WILL NOT FIT INTO THE ORIGINAL STAND!
