Socket Wrench Extension Organizer
This model pack is designed to help organize socket wrench extensions for a tool box. This has a solution for 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" socket wrench extensions with no length limit. Each model uses magnets to prevent movement and is sized for common hand tool socket wrench handle sizes.
The magnets are not designed to hold the tool in place, rather to hold the mounts in place. These are to be used for static tool boxes that don't change direction or get thrown around like rolling tool boxes/carts.

Magnetized Base
The holders will use magnets to stick to the bottom side of a toolbox to prevent shifting around when opening/closing drawers.
Testing
Environmental
This print has been tested down to 10°F and up to 100°F to ensure that it won't loose the magnets in the base. I've had about a 90% success rate. I do recommend that you use superglue to better attach the magnets if needed.
Product Compatibility
For product compatibility, I've tested mostly with Craftsman and Gearwrench extensions, but these sidings should be pretty comparable across manufactures due to the accuracy requirements of the tool it's self. This list shows the maximum size head of the extension that these parts will fit.

Assembly
Bill of Materials
- 8x Magnets 10mm diameter by 3mm thickness. (Amazon)
- Dark colored PLA (Black recommended)
- Light colored PLA (Red, Blue, Green, Orange, Yellow, etc…)
Colors
It is recommended that the base be printed in a light colored filament. This is so when it is in the toolbox, the bright color can contrast if there is a tool missing. Especially when looking at a open drawer from a distance. This will vary depending on the color of the toolbox drawer. Mine is black, so the bright red makes it easy to see.
Then print the top piece in a dark color (black is best). The handle stand can be printed in any color, but again black is recommended.
Manufacturing
A complete solution will require one each
- Base - Models are different sizes
- Top - Models are different sizes
- Holder - Models are different sizes
You can print in any direction. I've found that the tops of the models are the best to have on the build plates just to have its texture show through on the finished product. I've found that the best way to get the magnets installed is to use a bench top vise and press them in. The same thing can be done with a speed clamp. You can do it by hand with a hard surface, but it's more difficult.
To get the top and bottom mated, it is a rough press fit. Once they are together, its not coming apart without violence. Again, a bench vice or a speed clamp will work here. Hand pressure will work here again, but it is difficult. This was done so that the prints can be done by any printer and you don't need a dual filament printing machine
