Summary

My son had a hat he wore for years, and when he retired it he wanted a way to keep it displayed. However, finding a case the right size was challenging, so I designed this one. The glass i used is 7 inches high and 12 inches wide for the sides, 16 inches wide for the front and back. The vertical supports are screwed into the base, which is a 3/4 inch piece of wood. Since the front piece is too big for my print bed I split it in half for printing. If you make a smaller case you could use the side pieces for all pieces around the top and just change the length using Cura, or your favorite slicer. For the vertical pieces, I would recommend printing as is and cutting to size due to the screw hole and glass support ledge because if you size it in a slicer it will mess up those parts. I used a two-part epoxy to glue the glass into the channels.

I printed them all standing up so I would need supports inside the channels. If you do this as well, use a raft or brim, keep them close enough together so that the brims from each piece make it almost like a raft (one giant brim), and if you can, add a support about halfway up. I kept the pieces 3mm apart, then used a 1mm x 1mm x 3mm support piece to tie them all together and enable bridging. Once they were done printing and I pulled them apart, the support basically fell off with no visible marks.
