Summary

The Dream Shield has identical stats to the other Dream Weapons in Kingdom Hearts, with each having 1 strength. However, due to the Dream Shield being held and used differently than the Dream Rod or Dream Sword, there are unique animations for it. Sora will push the front of the shield forward when swinging it rather than the edge, and the shield will be held by the handles when Sora carries it while unmoving.

The Dream Shield also features a unique sound effect when opening a chest, and the only one different from the sound used for every other game. Unlike in most games where there will be a ‘tap-tap’ with a metallic clank, the edge of the shield is used to open a chest, causing a rhythmic wood rapping sound. This sound is only used one time in the game (as there only is ever one chest to open in dive into the heart) and is never used again in any of the games.

Goofy can wield this weapon in Mission Mode within Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days by equipping the Zero Gear. The ground combo consists of a series of continuous 360 degree spins.

The aerial combo consists of a downward slash with the bottom of the shield followed by Goofy doing a backflip, jumping on the shield, and driving it downward.
