I challenged myself to design something only a CR-30 could print and I needed some storage for a utility closet. I did this in the spring of 2021 when wood prices were really high.

So here we are. A shelf that uses a minimal amount of wood (just 2 fairing strips) and plastic reinforce shelfs. To save printing and cost the shelf acreage is made from corrugated plastic (the kind you find on garage sale signs). Each shelf is hot glued together.

Installation:

Cut fairing strip to size and attach to the studs in the wall. For me, I used one wood strip hanging from a ceiling rafter for the unsupported corner of the shelf. You could probably design this out of plastic.

Dry fit everything and cut the corrugated plastic 3/4" LONGER than the facia pieces. This extra long part that sticks out from the facia will rest on the wall fairing strip. For this project, I doubled up the corrugated plastic sheet gluing the pieces together with hot glue.

Hot glue the two facia's onto the corrugated plastic. Hot glue the two "washers" on the plastic that sticks away from the facia. This ensures that nails won't rip out if your nailing between the corrugated plastic ribs. For some nails I had laying around I had to drill out the holes in the washer.

Hot glue the Corner Brace into the unsupported edge. With the hole facing the bottom.

Hot glue the rib onto bottom of the corugagted sheet making sure the lap joint overlaps the facia piece.

Use a small brad to attach the rib to the facia through the front.

Use a small brad to attach the facia pieces onto the fairing strip on the wall.

Use a small screw to attach the unsupported corner onto the wood corner support.

I used Ideamaker to slice these files. It came out really good. The gap in the facia can sometimes be really tight on thee corrugated sheets. If I was doing this again, I would open that up by 0.01" to make sure there was a nice fit with the corrugated plastic sheet.
