Summary
I made a few tweaks to the base design:
Motors: I used different motors – mine are smaller, which makes them easier to mount. I designed mounting plates that slide into position using slots integrated into the base.
Flipper Mounting: I redesigned the flipper mount. My version uses a bolt placed in a ball bearing to support the flipper, allowing it to move very smoothly. The flipper is now supported at two points for increased stability.
Wheel Mounting: I wasn’t able to find the same wheel mounts as in the original design, so I added ball bearings inside the wheels and mounted them using long screws that go between the armor and the base.
Armor Piece: I redesigned the armor to make it easier to print – it now has a flat surface. It’s also slightly narrower, which reduces the gap between the wheels and the armor. Additionally, I added another channel so that the long screw used for mounting the forks can now be secured with a nut.
Top Plate: I designed a new top plate that is thicker and made from a squishy material. This helps absorb impacts and works perfectly against hammer-saw-style bots.
