I made this out of cedar for the front yard (see one of the pictures). Since I modeled the pot in Onshape, it is also possible to release it as a 3D model. You can scale it down to the size you want and 3D print it.
There are a few things you should know about the model:
It is a full-size model of the pot. When the slicer complains that the model cannot fit on the print bed, I suggest scaling it down right away — for example, to one-tenth (10%) of the original size. This makes it immediately manageable, and you can always fine-tune the scale later.
I released the model in a single .stl file, but there are two parts “hidden” inside: the box and the trim. Separating them is easy, instructions on how to do it in Simplify 3D an Prusa Slicer are below. The advantage of this separation is that you can print the parts separately, without supports, and in different colors. Print the box as-is, and flip the trim upside down.
In contrast to almost everything else I have uploaded on Printables, I have not printed this model myself: the cedar version was enough for me. However, I assume the trim part should be scaled slightly larger than the box (by about 0.1%–0.2%) to make the final fitment easier.
If you print the parts separately, glue the box and the trim together using your favorite adhesive. My personal choice is the original clear E6000 glue, since it can be cleaned up with mineral spirits if the joints look messy. Super glue also works fine if you’re careful.
I will upload a few different sizes of these pots, and you can also experiment with uniform and non-uniform scaling.
How to separate the Box and the Trim
Simplify3D, Version 4 & 5
Import the .stl.
In V.4, you will see "Cannot auto arrange. Largest part exceeds build dimensions". Click "OK".
In V.5, you will see "The packed models currently exceed the build volume dimensions". Click "OK".
Double click on the model. This will open a panel on the right, find "Change Scaling".
Make sure "Uniform Scaling" is ticked, put mouse cursor in any of the fields in "Scale %".
Change from "100.00" to "10". Click "Done".
Now do "Center and Arrange" and you have the pot neatly on the bed, but still as one part.
Go to "Mesh → Separate Connected Surfaces". You now have two parts listed in "Models" window.
Go to "Edit → Place surface on bed", and then click on the top surface of the trim to flip it.
You can now scale and arrange the parts better, or remove a part (click on the part, then "delete" key).
Prusa Slicer
Import the .stl.
Prusa Slicer will display an error "An object outside the print area was detected". Dismiss it.
Make sure you can see the sidebar ("View → Collapse Sidebar" is unchecked).
In the sidebar, find "Scale factors" under "Object manipulation".
For uniform scaling, the lock icon immediately below "Scale factors" shows a locked shackle.
Change any field under "Scale factors" from "100" to "10".
Click on the model, this will activate the top tool bar (with Add, Delete, Arrange ... icons)
Find "Split to objects" icon and click on it. Notice that you now have two objects listed in the sidebar.
You can now click on the trim and use "Rotate" icon on the left toolbar to rotate it 180 degrees.
There are "Place on face" and "Arrange" icons to further manipulate the objects if needed.
