Similar to the Flamingo Noodles, Here is a Christmas/Holiday tree using the same footprint.
You can chose your own power source and stand. In this example I have used a CR2032 coin cell battery holder because it has an on/off switch built in. The wires which come with the battery holder are way too big for this project, thus you need to modify/cut/de-solder the original ones and put on something much smaller. I recommend using standard 30 AWG solid wire-wrap wire.
The battery holder pictured actually is for 2 (two) 2032 batteries, but use only 1 (one) coin cell battery for this project. Thus, print out a "coin cell eliminator" and use it as the 2nd battery. I also recommend soldering the wires to the battery terminals LAST. Create the tree first. If using a standard, single 3 VDC CR2032 battery, you do not need a resistor. (If you hook this to a battery pack with 2 AA or AAA batteries, you will need a resistor.)
For the tree, I have tried different scenarios of green PLA filament, but found a white or translucent glow filament, along with a GREEN NOOD to be best for this project. I tried a GREEN PLA filament with a white NOOD, but the light did shine through very well.
You can buy a 300mm NOOD (LED noodle/filament) from Amazon, but I do recommend ADAFRUIT as their stuff is quality upon arrival. Always test it before you glue it though! This project has been designed to accommodate a 300mm 3VDC NOOD. I have tried the single ended NOODs, but I prefer the individual connections at each end. It is just better (IMHO) for soldering. I recommend soldering about 90mm of wire to each NOOD terminal first. Be careful with soldering, you can mess it up easily. Test that the NOOD illuminates prior to any gluing.
The 300mm NOOD flows easily around the tight corners of the tree shape. Just be gentle and let the NOOD find it's own path. IE, let it twist and turn on its own. Once it is in, then use a battery and test it again to make sure it illuminates. If all is good, now you can start gluing the top/cover to the base/channel. Be careful and take your time. Make sure it is all lined up. The glue/adhesive I use is a plastic cement. You literally have about 10 seconds to move things around before it sets. I also found having a bunch of mini-clamps at the ready are good to hold the top to the bottom. Once you have it glued together, then place it in the cone stand.
The stand I'm using for this tree is pretty much the same as the flamingo-noodles. I did modify the one to be just a few mm shorter. It printed out better on my printer (PRUSA) if I included build-plate supports. The cone stand has 2 (two) connection guide holes. To use these guide holes, just snip a small bit of 1.75 filament and put them in on one side to use as guide pins. Cut off at about 2mm. This is just there to guide the two halves together during assembly. Use what ever color filament you wish!
