This new tool end is a refinement of the existing Lemontron wraparound duct. It has a new sexy design with the most intricate CAD work of any Lemontron tool end!
The purpose of the redesign was initially to take the Wraparound duct concept to its logical conclusion, because it still had one big flaw, as mentioned in the video; the Wraparound duct outlets were too close to the nozzle and many situations such as printing PETG at 250C caused them to melt and sag. I also took the liberty of just redesigning the whole thing.
This is also the first Lemontron duct to employ SimScale Non-Compressible Fluid Simulation in the design process. Although the particle trace still has room for improvement, this is still a serious step forwards in Lemontron cooling tech.
The duct surrounds the nozzle further than the Wraparound, fixing the melting issue.
Two-Piece Design - A new two-piece design allows for the duct itself to be printed at an entirely different orientation to the rest of the body, enabling the screw posts to no longer go through the air passage and block air. The duct is now wide open with no obstructions.
Belt Fastener - In addition to serving as the carriage mounting point, the duct also serves as the belt fastener. With a new belt fastening system featuring quick-releasing screws, you can remove the belt tensioner in the chassis, as tensioning can be done right at the tool end.
Probe Location Update - The integration of the BIQU Microprobe has been reengineered. The silicone sock no longer requires trimming, yet the distance between the probe and nozzle has been reduced significantly. In the previous designs, the probe bobbled around 28mm away from the nozzle. This update brings that distance down to 20mm, which is as close as the sock will allow- it's now literally touching the sock.
More compact in both X & Y - This unlocks a larger build volume. To take advantage, this tool end would need to be matched with a chassis that offsets the existing endstops, but nothing is stopping us now.
Building this tool end is a lot harder; But if you've been keeping up with the Lemontron you've also been honing your build skills to the point that this will be a walk in the park! Still, as a beta, there may still be better ways to do things. Let me know on Discord!
[NEW SCREW ALERT] - Time to acquire some M3x5mm, Wafer Head, Hex
Prepare printed parts well - Dimensional accuracy is less forgiving than the other already-demanding Lemontron printed parts. Coming out of the printer, hit it with the blowtorch, the scraper, and the countersink bit. You are a master craftsman.
Superglue or weld the duct & case together - Create one strong part. Insert the waferhead screw to cinch down one side and tape the other to dry tight. Place on flat surface. Weigh it down so you got a flat tool end in the end.
You now have to drill out one of the heat sink's holes! LOL. The hot end fan wire routes through the heat sink!
Install the Hot End and Hot End Fan first.
The rest of the tool end assembles like the previous versions.
A new printer.cfg file is required and the configurator has been updated for the Ducty.
