Summary
This is a 150g vertical spinner combat robot meant to be a budget option that’s easy to build. It’s a really simple assembly, the drive motors are hot glued down and zip tied down, the lid is held on by electrical tape wrapped all the way around the bottom of the robot. The wheels are alSO glued onto the motors and designed to be TPU and use O ring for grip, I used Pololu 32mm wheels for the original but the printed wheels will also work. The weapon bar I use is a 1/2in x 1/8in x 3in aluminum bar with the mounting holes 2mm in a 9.5mm square pattern (the disc has accurate hole spacing if you wanted to make a custom bar or disc using the mounting pattern on it) and bolts straight to the motor, the disc file included is just a printable stand in (if you do print the disc 100% infill is a must). I printed the original out of PLA pro but that’s because my printer struggles with better filaments. The wedge is supposed to be TPU with ~25% infill and glued onto the PLA body but mine was normal PLA on 100% infill and it held up well. I also add a small piece of foam to the back of the robot to help keep the wedge on the ground while accelerating.
Edit (June 24 2025)
Added a new version of the wedge that helps get better weapon engagement.
Parts
2x N20 drive motors ( https://a.co/d/de3QDj9 500rpm motors I used but any 500-1000rpm n20 will work)
1x BE1806 brushless motor ( https://a.co/d/8JCDx4U or any similar 1806)
1x brushed 5A DESC ( https://a.co/d/7eeIYyV I used the ones from this 4 pack but this single one should also work https://a.co/d/9tlEaLu )
1x brushless 20A ESC ( https://a.co/d/9tlEaLu another 4 pack, I can’t find the same type in an individual pack but I’m sure they’re is somewhere other than Amazon that will have one)
1x 180mah 2s lipo ( https://palmbeachbots.com/products/palm-power-2s-180mah-45c-lipo-battery this is the battery I used, but these should also work https://a.co/d/iSg3h68 basically any 200mah or smaller 2s lipo should fit)
1x receiver ( https://a.co/d/2cgXcII or a compatible RC receiver if you already own a transmitter)
1x transmitter ( https://a.co/d/fVLOlRb this is the exact combo of transmitter and receiver I used but any RC micro receiver should work)
1x link system ( https://a.co/d/53yJYLa I used JST connectors for a link instead of a switch to save weight, here’s a video (not by me) explaining how to set it up https://youtu.be/00x0J3QewII?si=st7oQhiXEAHMCqyw)

This is the updated version so it is slightly different from the videos. I hope this is a fun build for anyone interested.
