Magnetic Wind Vane for Arduino / AS5600
A simple and reliable wind vane designed around the AS5600 magnetic angle sensor. No potentiometers, no contact wear — just a magnet and a sensor giving you clean 0-360° wind direction readings over I2C.
The vane mounts on a 10mm carbon fiber or aluminum tube and spins freely on a small bearing. The counterweight at the front keeps the assembly balanced so it responds to light wind without needing to be perfectly level. The wing size can be scaled up or down depending on how sensitive you want it to be.
Designed for use on autonomous boats, weather stations, or any project where you need reliable wind direction data outdoors. Pairs directly with an ESP32 or Arduino over I2C. The housing is compact and the whole thing prints in under 2 hours.
