A small experimental cover for the Atmos 2.
The idea is that the center is supported by 120 threads, which together create a surprisingly solid structure. Printing is not exactly easy, and your printer should handle bridges well. If some threads don’t print as expected, you can simply cut them away — there are plenty.
The model is designed for a 0.2 mm layer height. This is very important; otherwise the threads will not print correctly. You can also use 0.1 mm. I found it helpful to print inner walls first, so the threads have more material to bond to before they connect to the center.
The magnet holes are designed for 1.5mm magnets. (with 0.1mm tolerance depending on printer)
The example was printed in PLA on an Ender 5 Pro.
If you don’t have an Atmos 2, you can use this model as a printing calibration test. With a slow wall print speed, my print time is around 1.5 hours.
There are two files: One with tight tolerances for the threads and the second one has one extra layer between each layer with threads. The extra space should make it slightly easier to be printed.
