This holder is designed to be a somewhat-universal-ish holder for 1"-ish dial indicators. It specifically fits my Mitutoyo 2416F-10 and 2416A-10 indicators.
As I've been moving my whole shop to Gridfinity storage/organization, I found that most Dial Indicator holders I could find were very precisely dimensioned for specific brands / models, and I couldn't find options that fit my own indicators. So... I made this, with the intention of it being a bit over-sized and "sloppy" in a few dimensions so it will - I hope - be useful to more people, and also be a one-model solution to most of my own dial indicator storage needs.
The two square recesses at the bottom allow for storage of various mounting pins, adapters, etc.
If I get around to it, in a future update I plan to add slightly higher rims so these can be stackable even with an indicator in them.
I originally planned to make a two-in-one holder to hold two DTIs on their sides, in a 2x4 Gridfinity box, but realized that DIs vary in axial depth quite a bit, even between different models by the same manufacturer. This makes creating a "universal" holder nearly impossible. I may end up making something like this to suit my own specific DIs. If i do that, I'll post them as a separate model.

I have a modest home-shop that includes a small machine-shop with a mill and a lathe. As I slowly convert the whole space to Gridfinity storage, I have been running into things where I haven't been able to find existing Gridfinity solutions that work in my space. This is one of those solutions.
I have NOT included magnet holes in the Gridfinity base, because I didn't want them: magnets are … not helpful… in a machine shop full of ferrous chips.
I've included F3D, STL, and 3MF files. I'm new to this, but hopefully that gives folks enough to be able to modify these if they'd like.

This printed just fine in PLA on a Bambu P1S, with 15% infill. I am not a printing expert by any means, but I have no reason to think they would be a problem in any other material, or with reduced infill. The geometry is dead-simple, and the only overhang is from the gridfinity grid pattern itself.
Please be kind to me. These are some of the first things I have ever modelled in Fusion, and I have literally just been googling and YouTubing instructions as I go. I may be a “professional” but definitely NOT in the world of CAD modelling and 3D printing.
