This project was designed to closely fit the buffer tube/stocks that are part of the great model by Midyew 59: "Bug-A-Stock. A Stock for your Bug-a-salt gun."• Having tried this model, loved everything about the design except for the clamping mechanism. found the need for a tighter grip on the sides as well as a thicker shell.• The buffer tube and snap pin are identical to the ones used in Midyew's design.
Hardware needed:
• M3 screws/nuts○ 4x 25mm M3 screws○ 4x M3 nuts○ See photos of measurements
Printing:
• Print the main body with the back square cutout facing up. ○ This is a bit of a difficult print to orient, so supports are REQUIRED.
○ It was originally printed this with the orientation matching how it would be placed on the Bug A Salt (top side is facing the top of the printer) and the buffer tube adapter cracked due to the torsion/pressure along there. Therefore, layers need to be perpendicular to the stress of the buffer tube.○ printed in PETG, so your milage may vary on how robust PLA or other materials are.○ printed in .3 layer line height to help with general part strength
Assembly:
• Place the M3 nuts in the 4 slots on the Bottom Mount.• Hook the Bottom Mount through the hole where the trigger is - it should be able to fit with a 90 degree turn pretty easily.• Place the Body Mount and Top Mount on, and screw down both sides evenly.Screw until reasonably tight, but don't overtighten - this model was made to have a good amount of pressure from all sides, so you might have to squeeze the bottom and top mounts while screwing in the M3 screws.
General safety Disclaimer
Any parts of this project are for the Bug-A-Salt 3.0, while not a toy, is not a firearm. This is intended to add functionality to a product that fires table salt to kill insects. Please print this responsibly and understand the implications of modifying this tool which may more closely appear as a functional firearm. I'll only be using this indoors, so if using “in public” you might want to print this in more obvious colors, etc.
