Every time I take my camera with me, I am concerned about the Rycote microphone mount. I know it will withstand a lot abuse, but it has limits. That is why I have designed a simple protection cage. It has a tight coldshoe mount on one side and a 1/4"-20 hole on the other. I have used a tiny magic arm from Smallrig.

Should be also compatible with these and other small microphones with a coldshoe / hotshoe:
