Summary
My attempt at replicating the HST memorial from photos on the web. I feel like I learned something about Blender by tackling this.
I made one version with a hole in the fist so I could attach it to a wine bottle stopper. I didn't include that in the Blender file, but it does have a model of the front of the "button" that goes in the middle of the fist.
Update 3/1/2017: Added STL of model with button and pre-drilled for use with a wine stopper, I used these. Added photo of somewhat better paint job.

Notes:
The drill hole for the wine stopper was pretty snug on my print, it is supposed to be 8.5mm in diameter. I printed in PLA Plus and was able to make adjustments with a Dremel, but with regular PLA you could probably just carve it out with hand tools as needed.
How I Designed This
After reading
Vicki Wenderlich - How To Make A Mushroom
I was pretty sure I could make my way around the Blender interface, and after watching
Darrin Lile - Blender Character Modeling 5 of 10
I had the basic game plan for making my model. Surprisingly reasonable!
Pretty much every technical problem I encountered had already been asked and answered in a Blender forum somewhere.
