Elegant Fluted Christmas Ornament

Key Features

• Two-Part Assembly: The bauble is split into two hemispheres, making it easy to print without supports on the outside.

• Screw Assembly: Designed to fit together with a simple screw mechanism (a small connecting piece is included), resulting in a seamless, complete sphere without glue. The screw part is conical at the top and clamps the two spheres together.

Recommended Settings

• Layer Height: 0.2mm or 0.15mm - both work equally well

• Perimeters: 2

• Infill: 5 - 15% (I used 10% rectilinear)

• Supports on build plate only for the top sphere and the screw; No supports for the bottom sphere. All supports are on the inside of the print, so no scars will be visible in the end.

• I recommend enabling fuzzy skin and painting the outside ribs to help hide the seam between the two spheres

Assembly

Simply push the screw through the hole of the top sphere and screw it into the threads in the bottom sphere. The threads might be tight, depending on the calibration of your printer. If it's too tight, I recommend scaling either the sphere or the screw ever so slightly in x and y direction (Either increase the spheres or decrease the screw in size). Be careful not to snap off the loop at the top during assembly, as it is relatively delicate.
