Backgrounds:
This female end of the USB is mounted on the inside of my 90x60cm laser cutter. Its importance cannot be understated becuase thats where the cable from the PC connects to.
Conveniently, theres a USB that goes from the board inside the laser cutter to this plastic thing that grabs onto the side of the laser cutter from the inside. a second cable, from the pc, comes and connects here.
The trick is not tripping over the cable. obviously keeping it close to the wall, mounted preferably, would be the smart thing to do but no, not here. After everyone in the shop had tripped over said cable, and ripping it out, repeatedly, the plastic retainer broke, and the usb female end was bent and damaged.
After cutting the cable and attaching a new female end, it still needed to mount up to the laser body, so i designed a replacement. One of the first things I made on tinkercad
After a few attemps, i made it so the inside of the housing has a ramp,…. this helps for bridging tremendously (shown on trasparent pic). Print it slow, making sure the inside is clean. After fitting the female end inside w the cables, feel free to use a hot glue gun to fasten them in there.
