Overview

One of my Nintendo Switch Joy-Con strap's locking button broke a while back, and I couldn't find an appropriate replacement part to print, so I designed one.

The cinch uses friction to hold onto the strap string, instead of the button/spring design. The string should be pushed (some force will be required) into the grooves/slots. Once inside and threaded through, it should be movable with a bit of force.

Use a bright color to help you spot the Joy-Con strap more easily.

I don't have a Nintendo Switch 2 to test with, but if Nintendo used the same kind of string for their straps, it should work there as well.

Printing details

• Layer height: 0.12-0.15mm (0.3mm for first layer)
• Number of walls: ≥3
• Infill percentage - shouldn't matter, just use enough walls to make it 100% walls
• Material - I used PLA
• If the print comes out rough (especially around the string slots) like mine did, use a small file to smooth it out, so that it doesn't fray the strings over time.
