This is a reinforced version of a bracket for a direct-ish drive mod for the Anycubic i3s Mega. It adds:
- Reinforcements for making the overall structure less floppy
- Cable channel
- Non-slotted holes for the bolts, giving extra rigidity
I used a half-length NEMA 17 motor to put less weight in the print head, but with the reinforcements you might be able to reuse the stock motor. In any case you need a cable extension.
Extruder_non_reversed.stl now contains a model which allows you to mount the extruder without reversing the motor.
IMPORTANT: The motor needs to run the opposite direction (for the "Extruder_mod1" file) when in direct drive mode. To achieve this, do NOT set the e-Steps to negative values, as the Mega i3S firmware will set other parameters to negative values too, causing the entire printer to not move anymore. Instead I took my 4-cable stepper and flipped the red and blue cable using a small adapter.
