This model houses a WS2812 8x32 LED matrix, an ESP32 and the necessary cables.
I'm using it as a status display for my PV inverter, the ESP runs Pixelix to display the contents.
Most printers are too small to print the three parts in one piece each, but if you cut them in half they will print easily on a Prusa MINI. I've also added these pre-cut model files.
The front is best printed in white, as the light needs to shine through. I think a transparent material will work too.
The front sticks to the base with friction, the back is fixed with some small screws.
Parts needed:
- 8x32 WS2812 LED matrix
- ESP32
- DC socket
- 8 sheet metal screws, ∅ 2 mm
- 2 screws M3x20, 2 nuts M3, 4 washers M3
- some cables to connect everything
Documentation on how to connect everything and get the software running can be found here: https://github.com/BlueAndi/esp-rgb-led-matrix
I have a couple of bug fixes/improvements in mind and think there'll be a version 2 in the not too distant future:
- recessed DC jack
- DC jack position at the bottom (optional)
- eyelets for mounting on the wall
- mounting points for the ESP32 (currently it's floating around in the case 🫣)
