I made an adjustable spool, originally for a wirecutter machine.
The used, different diameter wires came in cardboard boxes ( the one with plastic spool is way more expensive, and you have a lot of plastic waste leftovers) and only can start it from the middle. That cause a constant twisting. With this solution, you can attach the spool behind the unit, press start and have a coffe without continuous supervising ;)

PLA is more than enough, for this kind of use.
