This is a filter holder for cheap vacuum cleaner cartridges (90mm dia/ 25mm height) that can be found at the Van Cranenbroeck storee in the netherlands. These filters cost about 2€ each and are very well made. They are from the cheap Nevac brand.

I found my compressor came with very bad filters: just a small piece of foam that will let through all fine dirt particles. With these much finer filters the intake air will be musch cleaner. As a side effect, the air resistance is much lower (but I don't think this will be noticeable).

However, feel free to use my design if you have the same issue.

BTW: I think the thread is a 3/8" pipe thread, but I'm not sure. I just copied the outer diameter and pitch from the oroginal one and it fits.

PLA or ABS should both work fine. I used ABS.
I think you can get away with less infill for quicker prints, but I like my prints to be a bit more robust.
Support is recommended.

I printed in 0.1mm layer height so the thread turned out perfect.

I recommend plastic screws for assembly.
