Parametric Gridfinity Bin Generator (Fusion 360)
A fully parametric Fusion 360 model for generating custom Gridfinity bins — with enhancements not typically included in standard bin files.
Create bins tailored exactly to your storage needs — from small fastener trays to large multi-compartment organisers — without relying on pre-made STL variants.
Enhancements
-
Optional compartment splitting (any divider count)
-
Optional label platform with debossed text
-
Optional front scoop for easier part access
-
Optional magnet pockets with adjustable diameter and depth
-
Optional M3 screw holes for additional base mounting options
-
Optional rabbit/mouse ear brims for larger bins
-
Anti-warp perimeter tension-relief ring
-
Designed to remain stable when parameters change — no timeline errors
What Is Gridfinity?
Gridfinity is a modular storage system created by Zack Freedman, based on:
-
42 × 42 mm footprint per unit
-
7 mm height increments
-
Stackable geometry
-
Optional magnet retention
These bins are fully compatible with standard Gridfinity bases.
Core Parameters
|
Parameter |
Description |
|---|---|
|
UnitsWidth |
Width in Gridfinity units (42 mm each). |
|
UnitsLength |
Length in Gridfinity units (42 mm each). |
|
UnitsHeight |
Height in Gridfinity units (7 mm increments including base). |
|
CompartmentCount |
Number of compartments. Divider walls are generated automatically. |
|
EnableLabelPlatform |
Toggles the label platform. |
|
LabelText |
Optional debossed label text. Use empty quotes ('') to remove text. |
|
EnableMagnetPockets |
Toggles magnet pockets in the base. |
|
MagnetDiameter |
Diameter of magnet pockets including printer tolerance (2–9.5 mm). |
|
MagnetHeight |
Depth of magnet pockets including printer tolerance (up to 4.75 mm). |
|
EnableM3ScrewHoles |
Adds optional M3 screw holes in the base (4.75 mm depth). |
|
EnableRabbitEars |
Toggles removable corner brims to improve bed adhesion. |
|
EnableScoop |
Adds an internal front scoop to improve access to small parts. |
Magnet Pocket Parameters
The magnet pocket dimensions are adjustable to accommodate different magnet sizes — magnets often vary slightly from their advertised dimensions.
Typical values:
-
Diameter: 5.6–6.5 mm (include 0.5 mm printer tolerance)
-
Depth: 1.7–2.2 mm (include 0.15 mm printer tolerance)
Adjust these if your magnets fit too tightly or loosely.
Anti-Warp Perimeter Ring
A shallow recessed ring is integrated into the outer wall to:
-
Relieve wall tension
-
Reduce visible layer-line artifacts
-
Hide minor lifting ridges
-
Prevent lifted edges catching adjacent bins
This does not affect stacking compatibility.
Print Settings
-
Optimised for 0.4 mm nozzle
-
Works well in PLA / PLA+ / PETG
-
Use rabbit ears for wide bins

Getting the Model into Your Slicer (From Fusion 360)
Fusion 360 changes its interface fairly frequently, but these steps are accurate as of March 2026.
Option 1: Export as STL file
-
File → 3D Print
-
Set Preparation Type to Export
-
Set Object to the top-level component (the entire bin)
-
Ensure Structure is set to One File
-
Click OK to save the STL file
-
Open the STL file in your slicer
Option 2: Send directly to your slicer
-
File → 3D Print
-
Set Preparation Type to Print Utility
-
Set Application to your slicer (e.g. PrusaSlicer)
-
Set Object to the top-level component (the entire bin)
-
Click OK to open the model in your slicer
Note: Selecting individual bodies instead of the top-level component may result in multiple separate parts being exported.
FAQ
Q: Is this fully compatible with standard Gridfinity bases?
Yes. Dimensions follow the official Gridfinity specification.
Q: Is this a remix of another model?
No. This was modelled from scratch against the published specification.
Q: Why upload the Fusion file instead of just STLs?
This allows you to generate any size, toggle features, and customise labels without redesigning.
Q: What happens if I enter extreme parameter values?
The model is designed to remain stable under realistic and practical parameter combinations. If you encounter an issue using sensible, real-world dimensions, please do report it.
Q: How do I export this model to STL?
Use File → 3D Print, set Preparation Type, then select the top-level component (entire bin).
