The Zastone D9000 radio comes with a handheld microphone connected to the radio with an RJ45 cable. This is a desktop microphone that uses the PCB from the original microphone. There are two buttons, left and right, but only one of them is connected to anything. The design is based off the ancient Motorola TMN 1004B desktop microphone that was used with Maxar/Moxy radios.
Additional parts need:
A few inches of Cat-5 cable
60mm x 40mm perfboard
A few inches of light gauge wire
Various M2.5 screws
The PCB from a Zastone D9000 handheld microphone
4x stick on rubber feet
Everything was printed with PLA except for the light guides which were printed with a transparent PETG. If too much light spills across from other LEDs, you may want to colour the sides of the guides with a marker.
The spacer goes between the two buttons with the pin then going through all 3 pieces. You have to stretch the body out a bit to get the pin in place. I ended up gluing the buttons to the body at the top, the flexing of the buttons gives a better tactile experience than allowing them to act only against the tactile buttons.
A short piece of Cat-5 (or 6 or whatever) needs run from the keystone jack to the connector. You may want to wait until after everything has been test fit before doing this, as the length may need adjusted to fit. The keystone jack will plug into the back of the microphone body with the connector going to the original PCB.
The tactile buttons get connected to one of the short ends of the perfboard. There are mounts for them on the mic bottom. The mic bottom also has a place to insert stacks of washers if you want more weight in the bottom of the mic. Across one of the buttons two wires were run and soldered directly across the tactile button on the D9000 microphone PCB.
The PCB is attached to the back of the microphone. With the light guides inserted into the microphone top, they can be sandwiched together. The 4 screws that joined the halves of the handheld microphone can be used to attach the back of the microphone to the top.
The original cable can be plugged into the keystone jack and run to the radio head unit.
