IMPORTANT NOTE: do not place serum in container when it's warm -- place the opened container in the fridge, and let it cool for an hour before putting serum in.   If you put the serum in and close the lid before the container is cold, it will keep the serum warm instead of cold!

Background

My clinic stopped storing allergy serums on site, so now I have to transport it to and from the clinic for every shot.   This is a simple insulated box with a removable ice pack for that purpose.   It also has space for the allergy shot sheet on top.

The ice pack should keep the serum cold for around forty minutes to an hour if cooled to fridge temperature.  If you need it cold for longer, you can remove the icepack and put it in the freezer.

Printing Considerations

Print in PETG with two perimeters, and a cubic infill of 30%.   It turns out that this makes for very good thermal insulation.

The ice-pack is also 3d printed -- put a pause around the 13.5 mm height, print.   When it pauses, fill with a cooling gel (buy a dollar store gel pack, and poke a hole in it, and squeeze it in).   Use a stick or fingers to push gel into grooves, wipe the top thoroughly , and unpause the print.
