My Carlson Pet Gate latch failed after 2 years of use because the piece that allowed the release button to pull the latch back broke off in a way that wasn't fully repairable.
I went ahead and designed a new latch and cover plate optimized for printing in PETG. It will probably wear out in the next year from use, but this is a simple piece to reprint and reinstall.
4 walls and 25% infill worked for me, 5 walls would be solid through the parts that will take the most abuse. The latch is a split/fold design to maximize layer orientation strength, so just print it with supports then super glue and clamp the halves together. They'll be held together once installed anyways, but I didn't want the handle to have an opportunity to pinch me every time I use it.
The Latch Cover just reduces the opening at the top of the latch plate to allow the latch to extend to it's maximum travel but gets rid of all the other internal gaps from the old mechanism.
Total print time for both replacement parts is about 1 hour on my MK4.
