This is the second iteration of my first model. I saw a lot that could be improved from that one so I set out to make a better one. This model is completely original and I even took the reference pictures! It is roughly 1:1 scale and cut such that each piece will fit inside the build volume of an Ender 3. Keep in mind that if you choose to print a smaller model, the wing and tail feathers may not print since they are so thin. I recommend printing slowly to reduce wobble in the thin parts. The cavity in the head piece is for placing weights to make the model stand on its feet, if so desired. Print this piece without any support. The eye sockets fit 6mm glass beads.

Here is my general procedure for post-processing and painting, if you are interested.

1) De-burr mating surfaces of parts and sand on a flat surface to remove any imperfections or residue
2) Assemble large parts like body segments first using either superglue or epoxy. Keep in mind that superglue will bond the parts instantly, leaving no time for adjustments. I recommend putting only a dot of glue in the middle. That way the parts can still be twisted apart if not aligned perfectly the first time, then follow up with more around the perimeter. If using epoxy, parts must be kept in place until fully cured.
3) Using 220 grit sandpaper, smooth out layer lines as much as possible. This may take a few hours, (and hurt your fingers). Some cervices may be difficult or impossible to reach, so just do your best. It may help to fold the sandpaper strips back on themselves to sand wing feathers and the tail.
4) Glue the remaining parts and apply Milliput, or similar filler material around the seams. Once cured, sand smooth.
5) The painting process is more of a subjective process, and I am by no means a master at this. I’d recommend getting a few good reference images and plan out color transitions with pencil. If your model is mostly monochromatic (like the magpies), use spray paint and mask off patches with masking tape. Otherwise, just use acrylics.
6) Add the eyes last. They may require a little force to get in.
