Modular Farmers Market Display Using Bambu Reusable Spools

The Problem: Displaying Larger Pieces at Different Heights

When selling at my local farmers market, I needed a way to securely display larger pieces at varying heights so they could be easily seen—without leaving everything flat on the table. At the same time, I had an excess of Bambu Reusable Spools, which led to the creation of this project.

The Solution: PVC and Reusable Spool-Based Display

I modified the existing Bambu spool design by adding an interface for 3" diameter PVC pipe (specifically DWV pipe). This allows you to:

• Cut PVC pipe to the desired height.
• Attach Bambu spools on both ends using a twist-on connection.
• Create a modular, elevated display.

Stability Enhancement: Interlocking Couplers

A secondary issue arose—taller displays risked falling over. To solve this, I designed a sliding dovetail coupler systemthat:

• Connects multiple displays together via a sliding dovetail mechanism.
• Has three M3 screw holes to lock the coupler at a set position.
• Can be daisy-chained or radiate outward from a central pillar for added stability.

After testing in high winds, the display remained rock-solid.

Transport and Storage

For easy transport, the PVC pipes can rotate around their couplers, allowing the entire display to be folded into a compact structure. Depending on height and spacing, it may fold neatly—or become a chaotic but secure bundle. Either way, it was sturdy enough to toss into the back of my car without issue.
