The 3-piece design allows for printing on a small bed size.

The design is 10mm thick to give good rigidity and stability to the simple dove-tail joints. The joints are deliberately tight but can be (firmly) pushed together without any need for fettling. Some glue could be added to the joint if desired.

I'm sure there are better joint designs which could allow a thinner design (so quicker to print and using less material).
