Summary
This is a remix of the dew shield design for GSO telescope, but for a Sky Watcher 10" with 3mm thick EVA foam for the dew shield instead of aluminum siding. I had to rebuild it entirely to split it in 4 pieces to assemble so that it would fit on my print bed. I was able to print all 4 needed per side at once though.
I also redesigned the clips from scratch to accommodate the larger screw heads of the spidervanes and overall larger dimensions of the top. My telescope is a flex-tube, but I imagine the solid tube variant will be basically identical where it counts.
Printed it all in PETG at .20mm and used brass inserts and 3mm screws to join everything together.
- 3mmx5mmx5mm inserts where the right size for all of them.
- M3x6mm screws for attaching he clips to the ring.
- M3x10mm screws for joining the ring together.
Edit: I've updated the files as the original V6/V7 pieces were too tight on the end of the scope for the 3mm thick foam to fit with velcro. The newer V8 files have a larger hoop and the clips have significantly thicker rings to lock over the spidervane bolts, due to them being farther away from the body of the telescope with the larger hoop.
An alternative would be to use the original clips, but attach them to the inside of the hoop instead and cut out what ever material is used for the dew shield to fit nicely around them, for a cleaner overall appearance. So I left both versions of each, in case someone wants to use aluminum for the shield or put the clips on the inside.
