I got the task to build a rack for lots of headsets from the music education teacher at my school. the budget was low, so I had to print something.
The design based on a foot from an old gaming chair, that has a diameter of 72 cm (more or less), so all the parts and messurements are for that kind of dimensions.
I used simple headset hooks, but you can fit to these rings whatever you like.
PARTS:
- Foot from office or gaming chair
- wooden / aluminium rod diameter 50 mm
- 15 mm by 15 mm aluminium square pipe or extrusion ( 12 pc. with +/- 330 mm of length)
- 50 mm wide aluminium sheet metal stripes that fit your focused circumference (I used 2 stripes of 1100 mm length per ring)
- M4 x 35 bolts and lock nuts (12)
- M4 x 50 bolts and lock nuts (12)
- wood or metal screw for the middle rod (12)
For the top you can simply adjust the cross lid holder flush with the top of the rod or use the knob or bowl attachement if needed.
I riveted the metal sheets together and also riveted the holders for the headsets. Everything else is bolted or screwed together. You have to screw the middle rod to the chair foot. I've done it with simple long wood screws.
Print settings:
- used PLA for all the parts (should also work with PETG)
- 0.2 mm layers with 25% infill
- place the small angled side of the “clip” on the buildplate for maximum strength
- the cross and lid need supports
