Allows mounting the screen on the Creality Ender 3 v3 SE perpendicular to how it's normally placed.
Installation requires extra hardware:
- 3x heatset threaded brass inserts (inner diameter M3, outer diameter M5) or 3x M3 nuts
- 3x any M3 screws long enough to screw into the inserts/nuts
- If using inserts, a soldering iron or similar tool to drive said inserts into plastic
- A 2x5 male-female ribbon cable (can be found for cheap on AliExpress or Amazon)
How to install:
- Unplug the screen from the base of the printer and unscrew the bracket that holds it at an angle. Removing the screen from the bracket is not required.
- If using heatset inserts, drive them into the print by placing them into the holes and gently pushing in with a heated soldering iron or similar tool.
- Lift up the printer's base (supporting it with something like a box may be required) and hook this print onto one of the printer's feet.
- Screw the angled screen bracket into the printed model.
- Connect your ribbon cable to the printer and screen.
Mounting the screen like this is useful if your Ender is placed on a small surface where it would not have enough place to fully move its bed if placed screen-forward. Also makes updating the screen's firmware with a MicroSD card easier.
I recommend printing with more infill as with low infill a PLA version of this model comes out sort of flexible. Using PET-G or ABS might also help.
