Abstract
This is a frame kit designed specifically for the first-generation iPad. I have an old iPad that has been sitting unused in my drawer for years. One day, I had a sudden inspiration and decided to turn it into a smart mirror by simply attaching a protective screen film. So, I specially designed and made this frame kit for it.
If you're skilled at woodworking, you can easily create a frame from wood yourself and use the accompanying stands and other accessories to securely mount the iPad in the frame. These stands are carefully designed to perfectly fit the dimensions of the first-generation iPad, allowing for a secure hold of the device while ensuring that users can easily access all buttons and ports.
This model is quite difficult to print, and the quality of the finished product largely depends on the performance of your printer and your level of mastery and practical experience in 3D printing. Additionally, don't forget to read the printing instructions carefully, which contain many useful tips to help you achieve better results with less effort.
Note:The frame has a symmetrical structure overall. You need to print two long-side panels and two short-side panels separately in order to assemble a complete frame.

Among all the components, the longest side panel is the most difficult to print. Since it needs to be placed diagonally, this side panel almost perfectly fits into the build platform of the Prusa Mk2s, with extremely limited clearance. It's really challenging to align it precisely. Design Insights: How I Completed This Work
In order to maximize the area of the mirror while ensuring the convenience of operating the Home key and the ambient light sensor, I carefully designed the layout inside the frame. The predefined mounting holes and the precise positioning of the matching bracket ensure that the iPad is centered and stable within the frame. The frame adopts a tenon-and-mortise structureTips:When assembling the frame, it is recommended to first join the four edges of the frame in sections, slightly offsetting the position each time and gradually advancing along each corner until all components are completely snapped into place. This not only improves assembly efficiency but also effectively prevents deformation or misalignment of parts due to excessive force.Tips:In fact, you don't need to use all these screw hook holes - I just reserved a few extra ones so that you can make flexible adjustments in actual use.
