Update content: The tolerance of the Coupler V3 around the bow-shaped pipe fixings and screw holes has been optimized and improved.
Coupler and Guide are a set of complementary accessories that help you pull a short or long length of PTFE tube from the inside of the consumables warehouse to the outside, allowing you to successfully print with large-diameter third-party consumables without having to keep the warehouse door open all the time.
Tip: If you plan to install an external spool holder, it is recommended to complete this step first, and then drill holes on the Adventurer 3! Welcome to check out myLow-friction line spool holder。
Option: You can first print and use the guide device to assist in accurately drilling holes on the door of the consumables warehouse. I installed the guide device on the outside of the door and reserved enough space to accommodate the external wire spool rack. You can evenly apply a thick layer of hot melt adhesive around the guide device to temporarily secure it firmly. Then, use a 4mm drill bit in conjunction with the guide device to easily drill the required holes.
After printing the Coupler, insert the PTFE tube into it. Be sure to carefully check whether there is any deformation in the tube - especially the holes through which the consumables pass, which should remain perfectly round. For more post-processing considerations, please refer to the instructions below.
To ensure a snug fit during assembly, it is recommended to leave an extra 1–2 mm of pipe length inside the Coupler before installing it on the extruder motor housing. At the same time, you may wish to insert a section of consumables from the PTFE pipe all the way into the extruder motor housing to align the Coupler position more precisely. Simply loosen a nearby screw
Although I personally don't think it's necessary, you can still apply a small piece of hot melt adhesive to the neck of the Coupler to further enhance its structural rigidity.
