Summary
Use these files to make yourself a DIY 2170 battery for long range drone flying etc. These holders provide better electrical isolation over directly gluing the cells together (risk of a short circuit if the cell cans touch together in a crash!)
2170 6S Holder.stl Slicer settings:
- Use PLA+/Nylon or other solid but slightly malleable material (NOT ABS/PETG as they fracture on failure). TPU should be fine if you're happy to have a bit of cell movement
- 0.4mm wall thickness
- Infill 0%
- Properly calibrated flow/extrusion multiplier for EXCELLENT layer adhesion
- Properly calibrated linear advance
Result: single walled print 'vase like' with no layer separation. Clean up any imperfections on the insides the holes with a knife/file/sandpaper to get as close to circular as possible - adjust print scale to get as close as possible to a 'snug fit' on the 2170's.
For a single wall thickness they're surprisingly strong, especially if you scale them vertically, but I won't guarantee they'll survive a crash, cinematic flying only!
2170 6S Cap Bottom/Top.stl
- These are not necessary but they make the finished pack look more professional :)
- Print with your default slicer settings
- Scale for a light press fit
- Can also print with PLA+ etc but I recommend TPU for some impact absorption
- I recommend applying a some silicone sealant to the top of the cells to hold the caps on.
Cover with 120mm FLAT WIDTH PVC heat shrink to hold everything together.
