Updated on September 27, 2022: When using the manual alignment method, the geometric center positions of various STL models were inconsistent, resulting in misalignment or deviations at multiple seams. To address this, I adjusted the models in my possession and added a layer of non-printable disc-shaped structures below each model to ensure that the center positions of all models remained consistent. In this way, as long as the coordinates of the two groups of models are aligned to 0,0,0, they can fit together perfectly and seamlessly.
Due to the extremely strict tolerances, it is necessary to precisely align the positions of the two nozzles during printing. Otherwise, it will be difficult to avoid fusion problems caused by local overlapping, especially at the seams where defects are prone to occur.
Recently, I got my hands on a brand-new IDEX printer and had an idea—to try implementing the creative concept mentioned in a post: printing a two-color articulated dragon. First, I imported the model into Fusion 360 and generated multiple separate mesh models. Everything went smoothly at first, but then I noticed mesh errors in all the models.
