I have a spare ABUS d-lock clamp for a bike and a spare Kryptonite d-lock. I wanted to be able to use the Kryptonite d-lock with the ABUS d-lock clamp but the bar size is slightly thicker for the kryptonite lock (13mm) compared to the ABUS lock (11mm) so this replacement doesn't fit (unless you drill the hole bigger).
I reversed engineered the ABUS shackle clamp (part available) and edited it for the kryptonite lock.
I haven't tested the ABUS shackle clamp, so please print at your own risk
Parts you'll need:
- 2 m4x16mm bolts
- 2 m4 locking nuts
Tools you'll need:
- Screwdriver
- Kryptonite D-lock
- Knife
Instructions
- Take off the shackle clamp that comes with the d-lock.
- Cut the rubber using the knife so the new ABUS shackle clamp fits.
- Put the new ABUS shackle clamp on the d-lock. If its a bit loose, put some sellotape on the d-lock first.
- Screw the bolts down to tighten the shackle clamp to the d-lock. You shouldn't need much torque to make it tight.
06/03/2025 V1: Measured dimensions from the actual ABUS shackle clamp, changed the m5 self-taping screws to m4 bolts and nuts to managed wear on the part.
07/03/2025 V2: Reduced the width of the 2nd extrusion from 26.5mm to 26.3mm as it was a bit tight in the clamp (but did fit in).
07/03/2025 V3: Changed from captive nuts to open nuts as the part needed more strength. Adjusted spacing of bolt hole from 5mm from edge to 6mm for more strength.
10/03/2025 V4: Decreased inner diameter from 13mm to 12.9mm. Increased length of cutout from 17mm to 18mm as there's a lot of pressure on the bolt and nut which causes the part to crack.
