It allows for less tension/stress on the cloth fibres by having a bigger radius. 
 

Attention: the model will likely not be strong enough to be mounted directly with a rope or something (as seen in the first picture). You'll have to put something sturdy and stable in the middle to avoid the tube being bend and broken (as seen in the last picture).

 You can probably scale it down a bit if it doesn't fit on your printer.
