This is a parametric bridging test model that you can specify to specific width and quantities. This minimize unnecessary print time while focusing on the bridge distance that matters to you.
Features include the text on the bridge to indicate how long the bridging is, and each model has a bottom layer spanning the width of the model to ensure adhesion to the bed, rather than relying solely on the towers that the bridge connect to.
Printing:
This model is meant to be used for any printing profile that you might be using to test how good the bridging would be.
I tested these models in PLA using the standard PLA profile and standard setting available in Prusaslicer.
Usage:
The STL files include 10mm, 20mm, and 30mm respectively. Using OpenSCAD, you can customize any arbitrary bridge width and quantity of models.
Here's the three STLs together.
Of course, if you know how to use OpenSCAD, you can customize it to your own width and as many models as you like:
Customizing:
In order to use this parametric model, it is a good idea to be familiar with OpenSCAD and a copy of the bridging SCAD file.
There's a lot of variables to consider, but the most important parameter to consider is the distance, which will specify how long the bridge is. I would stick to only modifying the distance, and only modify the other variables if it's necessary.
It is recommended that you will for the most part stick to the default setting as specified in the SCAD file.
- distance - How long your bridge is, but not including the towers.
- depth - The depth of both the towers and the bridge.
- tower_w - Width of the two towers.
- height - How high the bridge and the towers are.
- deck_thickness - The thickness of the bridge from a vertical perspective.
- text_w - How long the text is allowed to cover the bridge.
text_d = The depth of the text.
Text options are necessary to adjust the readability of the text.
Here's the example code on how to customize using OpenSCAD.

- R1 - This model is complete and it is anticipated that there will be no further revisions.
