Want to turn on your printer from outside of your enclosure and also turn on and dim your LED lighting?
If yes, then this mod is for you. I made it so that nothing of the inside of the lack table is exposed. It also attaches in a way that it gives stability compensating for the LACK parts that are removed.
Start by making a pencil mark/line where the Power Plate should be located on the LACK Enclosure. Use a sharpie to cut out the part of the LACK table where the Power Plate will be inserted - yes you can use a sharpie for these tables - they are basically cardboard and some thin composite wood. No need for saws or drilling. Just start by cutting a shallow path along the marked area with the sharpie, and then do followup cuts until you are through the material.
The dimmer I used has the leds turned compeletely off to the far left rotation with a “click” switch. As you rotate past the click the leds turn on and increases in brightness. This is the dimmer/pwn controller I used: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005937434731.html
I have wired the power for my LED lights off the 24v Printer PSU through a voltage stepdown circuit that has it output connected to the dimmer, and the output from the dimmer goes to the LED light. That way the lights are turned on with the printer instead of having its own power source.
This is the latching LED Power button I used (110-220v latching 19mm): https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006187833198.html
If you have any questions, let me know :)
Happy modding.
INFO: Currently the two holes on the bottom side of the power plate closest to the front are too close, and therefore can not be used since they would collide with the bottom screw from the front side of the plate - I will fix this and upload a new STL soon. It is no big deal as there are plenty of mounting holes to give good support - I just omitted those two screws when I attached the housing.
